I created an account on eons.com. I liked the ability to do a keyword search within each category, such as, "explore" or "people." Also, if you found a group to join, you could narrow that search. What I disliked was trying to find the "add a friend" link. If you weren't on the right page, the "Friends" heading didn't lead you to a link.
I think these social networking sites are popular because you can have contact with other people without being face to face. I think a good use for social networking are support groups. One reason I dislike social networking sights is the possiblity of dishonesty.

STREAMING MUSIC
I signed up for Pandora. I was impressed with the variety of artists available. They even had a local jazz group. Good listening!

RSS
RSS is one stop shopping which can save time.
At this time, I can use this technology for receiving book reviews from different sources, i.e., NY Times Book Review or One Minute Book Reviews.
Libraries can use this technology for receiving database alerts, book reviews, government feeds, and other subject oriented feeds.

IM
This was my first try at IMing. My chat session went smoothly with the help of my experienced partner. Being 6 feet away from her during the process, I felt like those people chatting on cell phones to the person next to them. I also sent a YouTube video to her and received one from her.
In the box which listed your contacts, I was surprised you could tell whether they were logged or not.
If you can't reach someone by phone, this may be an alternative method.

Lifelong Learning
I find the hardest part of Lifelong Learning is getting started and committing my energy toward my goal. Besides Play, the easiest part for me is viewing problems as challenges. When I play tennis, I want to win! I like the challenge of outplaying my opponent.
